This innovative program connects all aspects of the medical, pharmaceutical, and social
sciencesto create more effective and customized treatment programs for HIV patients. AIDS Healthcare Los Angeles is one of the largest AIDS charities in the country.
Gifted Healthcare OKC presents information about a clinical trial taking place in conjunction with the North American HIV Treatment Resources (NASHR). In June 2021, the test was approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of HIV. This development is expected to have major implications for the way that healthcare providers communicate with their HIV patients.
The mission of GIFTED Healthcare is to enhance the patient’s quality of life through education and treatments. With a goal of reducing the cost of caring for an HIV infected person, the organization provides information about testing and drug information, HIV pre-exposure counseling, HIV care planning, and HIV prevention.This information is designed to assist GIFTED Healthcare OKC in improving the overall health of HIV positive individuals. One component of GIFTED Healthcare is the provision of after care counseling and services for HIV patients, and other patients newly diagnosed or living with HIV. This service extends to family and friends, who can offer support and counseling for the patient. It is hoped that the
increased
familiarity and bonding can create a sense of community and lessen isolation of the patient.
Communities benefit by receiving this information and counseling, and many have found that through the provision of after care and HIV education, they have been able to decrease the number of people passing on the infection to others. Through dialog and discussion, communities come together to ensure that they are prepared for the next medical challenge. HIV/AIDS is still considered to be a silent killer, with very few cases known of its cure. By creating a safe zone around HIV positive individuals, communities can work to decrease transmission of the infection, while helping HIV negative individuals live healthy and normal lives. Through communication and advocacy, communities work to provide information and counseling on issues that affect them and the people around them.
In San Francisco, California, the GLBT National Center on Sexuality and Gender Diversity sponsors a program called Take Me To HIV AIDS! This is a project of the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Community Health Board and is funded in part by the San Francisco Gay and Transgender Community Health Department. All of the participating organizations have signed on to an expanded commitment to excellence and community engagement. All of the participating organizations are committed to creating an environment where everyone can feel safe, accepted, and able to thrive, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or health status.
